IQ Tropical Strength Algaecide is designed to remove blackspot and Mustard algae in swimming pools. This blend of copper and Quat (Benzalkonium chloride) based algaecide can be used as a once off treatment for blackspot algae, mustard algae or as an important addition to major green pool clean up situations (in conjunction with stabilised chlorine, acid and filtering).
IQ Tropical strength algaecide is formulated using a concentrated blend of organic copper complex and Benzalkonium Chloride, Tropical Strength Algaecide is designed to combat the most resistant algae strains and is compatible with all recognised sanitisers (recommended to be used with stabilised chlorine),
- Controls Blue-Green, Black & Mustard Algae in swimming pools
- 50 g/ltr Copper (Cu) Present as a complex blend of copper salts
- 150 g/ltr Benzalkonium Chloride

Benzalkonium based algaecides work by smothering the algae spore or bloom molecule in a detergent based film. This film removes the ability for the algae to absorb oxygen so it can no longer grow and dies off.
Copper Based Algaecides work by slowly poisoning the algae molecule and breaking down the organism. This is a slow working algaecide against black and mustard algae. Copper based algaecides work best in conjunction with pool acid (maintaining a PH level below 7.2) and stabilised granular chlorine (Sodium dichloroisocyanurate).
Note:- Copper based algaecides which are used with Liquid Chlorine and Granular chlorine (Calcium Hypochlorite) can cause black copper staining to the surface of your pool if used incorrectly depending on the application.
